Freddie Crews Shirley, 89, passed away on April 25, 2019.
She was originally from Lawrenceburg, Tn. She also lived in Memphis, New Orleans and Albuquerque, before relocating to Chattanooga in 1969. Ms. Shirley was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church for 47 years and loved being part of the Hilander Class. She was a founding member of the Chattanooga Emmaus community and was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Shirley; her parents, Fred W. Crews and Clara Crews Gobbell; and her siblings, Roy Crews, Myrtle Whippie, Ann Benson, twin brother, Fred Crews, Jr., and Donald Gobbell.
Her survivors include her children, David and Lee Ann Adams; her grandchildren, John David and Kathleen Adams; and her sister, Barbara McGee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
Visitation and the memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 28, in the sanctuary of White Oak United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 2 p,m, with the service to follow at 3 p.m.
Her caring nature and her deep love for other people will be missed by all who knew her.
