Cleveland High School's Francisco Davis Signs With Cleveland State Men's Cross Country

Cleveland State Men’s Cross Country has signed another local runner to their 2019 squad, adding Francisco Davis from Cleveland High School to their roster on April 17th.

“Francisco is an incredible young man,” head coach David Kyle said. “He is a hard-worker and I can’t wait to see him run at the next level. He has a very supportive family and everyone that meets him immediately loves him. He will be a great teammate for us.”

Davis’s high school head coach Ben Williams also raved about his athlete. “He has been nothing short of an absolute pleasure to coach for the past two years,” Williams said. “His drive and determination rival his can-do attitude and supportive leadership style. He does not flinch in the face of adversity, but rather smiles and quickens his stride. Francisco’s leadership comes in the form of coaching those around him with a can-do mantra and a disregard for impossibility. He has displayed the perfect balance of fierce competition and supportive praise for any competitor and team that he runs with or against. In a sport that tests every aspect of an athlete’s will and work ethic, Francisco stands as one of any team’s best assets for peer coaching, motivation and heart.

When speaking of the opportunity to run for the Cougars, Davis voiced his excitement. “Running has always been a passion for me, even when I was [a child growing up] in the Philippines. When I came to the US, workouts with the cross country team were the first activity I participated in and it was a great way to make friends. I consider it a blessing to be able to run at the next level. I look forward to two years as a running Cougar.”
