Parkridge Medical Center has opened the Advanced Wound Care & Vascular Center to provide comprehensive therapeutic options, including hyperbaric oxygenation therapy, to patients suffering from chronic and hard-to-heal wounds. Located in a newly renovated 4,577-square-foot space, the Advanced Wound Care offers services specifically aimed toward preventing limb loss and promoting healing for diabetic ulcers and the full spectrum of hard-to-heal wounds, including arterial ulcers, burns, complex soft tissue wounds, infected wounds, non-healing surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, traumatic wounds, vasculitic ulcers and venous stasis ulcers.

“Introducing the Advanced Wound Care & Vascular Center makes innovative therapy more accessible to patients who need help managing and treating chronic and non-healing wounds,” said Timothy M. Grant, MD, chief medical officer of Parkridge Health System. “Launching this service meets a growing need in our community, and we are proud to work with our physician partners to create an easily navigable network for healing.”

Under the direction of David Redd, MD, medical director of the Advanced Wound Care & Vascular Center, and Susan Nielson, clinic director, the multidisciplinary center is fully staffed by providers who are experts in the field of wound care.

"Such expertise enhances patient outcomes by allowing for personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs," officials said. "To comprehensively treat chronic and hard-to-heal wounds, our multidisciplinary team of experts leverage evidence-based treatments, including bioengineered skin substitutes, compression therapy, debridement, hyperbaric oxygenation therapy, negative pressure wound therapy and ostomy care."
