Calvin George Evans has been sentenced to serve five years in federal prison for selling heroin. After his release from prison, he will be on supervised release for four years.
Evans appeared before Judge Sandy Mattice.
Prosecutors said the conspiracy occurred last July through Aug. 14.
It says the role of Evans was to supply the heroin intended for distribution.
Last Aug. 14, law enforcement agents and officers searched the home of Jared Adam Derrick, who is also charged in the case. Both Evans and Derrick were at the residence.
Evans was found with $1,715, which included $60 that law enforcement had recorded prior to a controlled buy from Derrick at the same address. The search also uncovered approximately 150 grams of heroin in three separate locations within the home.
In addition, law enforcement officers located digital scales with apparent heroin residue and baggies.
Evans admitted to obtaining 150 grams of heroin in Detroit and to bringing it back to Chattanooga.
