Family Of 7 Loses Home To Fire Saturday Afternoon In Harrison

The American Red Cross will be assisting a family of seven in Harrison after the family lost itshome to fire on Saturday.

A homeowner called 911 at 1 p.m. reporting a fire on the back porch. The family evacuated the residence without injury.

The Highway 58 VFD responded and arrived on the scene reporting fire on the back of the house. Highway 58 fire officials immediately called for a mutual aid response for water tanker shuttles, engines and manpower.

Agencies who responded were the Chattanooga FD, East Ridge FD, Tri-Community VFD, Bradley County tanker 13,  Chattanooga FD Q6 to Highway 58 Station 1, and Meigs County engine to Highway 58 station 4. HCEMS responded to the scene for any potential injuries and to monitor firefighters vitals due to hot and humid temperatures.

Highway 58 VFD Fire officials reported the house is a total loss and valued at $200,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
