Chattanooga's Shooting Epidemic - And Response

Sunday, May 19, 2019

These shootings continue and something has to be done to try and stop them whether they are domestic, robbery or gang related.

We obviously can not remove these handguns from every man, woman and child. I suggest that merchants that sell handguns raise the minimum age to 21 years for the purchase of handgun ammunition only. This 21 age requirement would not include ammunition for the sole purpose of those individuals who enjoy the recreational sport of hunting who use shotguns. I am referring to all handgun ammunition which is the primary ammunition responsible for these out of control shootings on a daily basis.

If this 21 minimum age was self enacted or required by merchants I believe sooner or later the supply of ammunition on the street may not dry up but would or could become scarce.

This would have no effect on our Second Amendment to own, but would restrict the amount of readily available ammunition in the hands of irresponsible people.

Some merchants have already chosen to no longer sell the assault type weapons which I applaud them for.

Without preaching here it is not the weapon itself but whom these weapons may fall into the hands of which is the concern. I hope you can relate to my line of reasoning in my post. If the ammunition were to become harder to purchase then I believe the shootings would have to logically decrease.

Thank you for allowing me to vent a little here. Everyday we read of these senseless shootings and someone has to come up with a solution soon.

Jerry,

The minimum age by law to purchase handgun ammunition is already 21.  These gang members aren’t buying the handguns or the ammo legally.  Most guns are stolen then sold on the street.

An assistant is warranted if the school system is more then two to three schools. ... (click for more)
