Carlynne Ruth Royal Patterson, 85, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life early Friday morning, May 17, 2019 at Quinton Memorial Health Care. 

Ms. Patterson was born in Chattanooga, Tn. on July 11, 1933.  She was a daughter of the late Carl B.C. and Mattie May Johnston Royal.  Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Royal; and two great-grandchildren. 

She was a veteran of the United States Army and had been a member of Cedar Valley Church of God since 1980.  Ms. Patterson was a member of the local American Legion Post.  She loved helping anyone in need and was an avid UTC Football fan. 

Ms. Patterson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth “Liz” and Clifford Worley of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; grandchildren, Johnny Strickland and Barney Strickland; four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Ms. Carlynne Patterson will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at 12 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Wayne Owenby and Reverend Hubert Burdette officiating.  She will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens with Johnny Strickland, Shanna Strickland, Jesse Singleton, William Hess, and Mickey Buffington honored to serve as pallbearers.  Military Honors will be presented by the Dalton American Legion Post 112 Honor Guard.

Ms. Patterson’s family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, between the hours of 5-9 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
