Marilyn Williams Butcher, 80, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Marilyn was born in Alabama on June 7, 1938. She was part of the 1956 graduating class of Pisgah High School. She worked at Mitchell Tire Company, Combustion, Senter School, LV Utility and TAWC. She was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church where she taught in the Dorcas class. She was also well known for her “card ministry” and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Butcher; parents, Duiard and Vannie Williams; sisters, Merle Godsey and Elwin Hulett; brothers, Nofflet and Gene Williams; nephews, Ed Scoggins and Scott and Tony Cobble.
Survivors include her daughter, Wynona Butcher; son Lane (Kathy) Butcher; granddaughters, Emily (Nick) Moore & Haley and Sarah Thomas; sisters-in-law, Emily (Harvey) Cameron, Annie Williams and Nelda Janoe; nieces, Mary Lee (Jim) Lockhart, Sandy Cole, Cindy (Bryan) Williams, Beth Butcher, Shirley Scoggins and their families; nephews, Ed (Carmen) Godsey, Lee (Teresa) Hulett, Jeff and Brian (Sherry) Scoggins, Morris Butcher, Jr and Jim (Janell) Butcher and their families.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Davenport officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
