Coaching Change With Cleveland Soccer Program

  • Tuesday, May 21, 2019
Cleveland High School announces Miles Christian as the new head coach of the Men’s Blue Raider soccer team.  He replaces John Brose who has been the coach since 2007. Coach Brose is stepping away from his coaching responsibilities but will remain on the CHS teaching staff.  While under Coach Brose’s leadership, the Raiders won seven district and five region championships to go along with three state appearances.

CHS Athletic Director David Turner said, “I would like to thank Coach Brose for his service to the CHS Soccer Program for the past 13 years.   He has created a culture that focuses on success and mentoring.
His impact within our school is tremendous and his influence reaches far beyond the soccer field.”

Principal Autumn O’Bryan echoed Mr. Turner, “John Brose is an outstanding coach.  His presence in the athletic department will definitely be missed. He has been top-notch in the classroom and will continue to lead in our school.  While his shoes are not easy to fill, we believe we have found the perfect fit to continue the legacy of Blue Raider Soccer. Miles Christian has led our Lady Raider Soccer program for the past few years and has a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in the game of soccer.  We look forward to him taking the helm of the boys’ program.”

Coach Christian brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him as he assumes this new role at Cleveland High School.  He has lead the Lady Raider soccer program since 2016 and holds a USSF National C license.

Coach Christian graduated from Bryan College and was a member of the 2015 All Conference Team and the All Tournament Team in 2014.  His jersey was retired at BCHS in 2014. He holds many records at Bradley including all-time leading goal scorer, most single game goals, as well as most season goals scored in a single season.

“It is an honor to be selected to carry out this soccer program’s historic tradition,” says Coach Christian.  "I am beyond thankful for John Brose, as he has mentored me in my time here at CHS, but also set the highest standard for all coaches on how to coach a successful program. I am excited for this new chapter in my life and I am ready for next spring. Go Raiders.”

Mr. Turner says, “I am very excited for Coach Christian to named as our next boys head coach at Cleveland High School.   He brings a tremendous amount of energy and knowledge to our program. He is a very intense competitor that has a passion for success on and off the field.  Coach Christian desires our players to achieve their maximum potential.”

Coach Christian will assume his new head coaching assignment immediately.  He can be reached at mchristian@clevelandschools.org.
