Donald Delano Roberts, 79, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas, and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, and had worked at Combustion Engineering and then U.S. Pipe for many years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1067, enjoyed coaching youth baseball and truly loved playing golf as much as possible. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, that will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow & Celestial Roberts.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 40 years, Teresa Graham Roberts; children, Donny Roberts, Lori Maynard and John (Shakitia) Scroggins; brothers & sisters-in-law, Harry (Melanie) Roberts, Johnny (Ellen) Roberts and Kenny (Renee) Roberts; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous extended family & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Chastain officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
