Tyler Boyd, author of Tennessee Statesman Harry T. Burn: Woman Suffrage, Free Elections, and Life of Service, was the featured speaker at the May meeting of the Prudhomme Fort Chapter, of
Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century. Mr. Boyd is the great-grandnephew of Harry T. Burn,
whose vote in the Tennessee Legislature gave a majority vote for women to have voting privileges.
Chapter members wore attire representing the woman suffrage era.
Chapter Dame of the Year 2018 was awarded to Emily White Monroe (Mrs. Zach). She has
served as chapter librarian, coordinating the placement of memorial books in the Chattanooga Public Library; and also has been a liaison between UTC Department of History in assisting in
placing candidates for graduate degrees in Historic Preservation at MTSU in Murfreesboro.
