Philip Helms
Philip Randolph Helms, 72, died suddenly on May 25, 2019, after a brief hospitalization.
An avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting, he was a long-time resident of Decatur, Tn., who graduated from East Ridge High School in 1966. He was retired from Cleveland Utilities after many years of service. His family and many friends will miss him dearly; his humor, loyalty and integrity will long be remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel; his two daughters Loraine Smith of Sandy Springs, GA, and Amanda Arp (Daniel) of Chattanooga; grandchildren Kayla Daffron (Nick), Cannon and Mia Faye Smith, Gaven, Isabel, Kara and Gabriel Arp; great-grandchildren Kylee and Logan Daffron; sister Karen Helms Ward (Charles) of Whitefish Bay, WI; brother Gregory Helms of Hixson; sister-in-law Betty Rubin of Cleveland, TN; niece Sarah Randolph Ward of Bloomington, IN; nephews Davidson Ward (Sarah) of Duluth, MN; Mike Montgomery and son, Carl, Cleveland; Bernie Rubin (Dawn) and their children Sydney Rubin Flerl, of Chattanooga, and Chloe and Ethan Domaingue; and Steve Montgomery and his son, Chase, of Cleveland.
His family wishes to sincerely thank the CCU staff of Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
There will be a Celebration of his Life on Friday, May 31, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, from 4-8 p.m.
