Aaron Young and Wesley Mason are the latest state champions from Hamilton County Schools.  The two are students at East Hamilton Middle/High School, and they won the 100-meter dash in the state championship event held last week at Dean A. Hayes Stadium in Murfreesboro.

The TSSAA and Special Olympics of Tennessee came together to develop Unified Sports events.  Unified Sports are a combination of special needs athletes paired with a regular education student in a sports activity.  East Hamilton Middle/High is a Unified Champion school.  East Hamilton participated in the first ever sectionals for the new state track and field event qualified for state.

Mr.
Young, a sophomore at East Hamilton, was the athlete in the 100-meter event.  Mr. Mason, also a sophomore, is his unified regular education partner.  The times for the athlete and partner are combined to get the final qualifying time for the event.
