George “Wayne” Motes
George “Wayne” Motes, age 74, of Dalton passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Hamilton Medical Center.
Mr. Motes worked at North Georgia E.M.C for 47 years. He was a hard worker, and he loved gardening, helping his friends and neighbors. He was veteran of the Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Early and Pauline Motes; brother, Joe Motes; niece, Pam Roane; nephew, Jason Motes ; and a grandchild, Ava Motes and Levi O’Briant.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce O’Briant Motes of Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Olivia and Jonathan Weaver of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Julie Motes of Calhoun; step-children, Jerry O’Briant of Dalton, Gary and Angie O’Briant of Calhoun, and Karen Sneed of Dalton; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Robert McGee of Hartwell, Ga.; brother and sisters-in-law, Denver and Carol Motes, and Lucy Motes, all of Hartwell; grandchildren, Luke and Makenna Motes, Jase and Sadie Weaver, Beverly Marker, Matthew Marker, and Maegan Delaune; great-grandchildren, Ava Delaune, Mia Marker, Malakai Cusick, Miliana Poole, and Neyhan Marker; and nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Motes will be held Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 30, from 5-8 p.m.
