There I Stand And Hold My Pose

Monday, June 10, 2019
There I stand silent and hold my pose

There is nothing to do as I honor my own

The horse drawn carriage makes its way through the street

While those in blue help line the passage as they meet

They have said their last words as much as can be

Because there are never any words that make sense you see

Why did this happen to a comrade of mine?

How could you turn your back on someone of your own human kind?

Still I stand there silent and hold my pose

As the rage inside me continues to grow

I control my emotions so they will know

There is strength in numbers and a code to uphold

We have stood alongside one another and held our stance

Even though I knew I was taking a chance

Still I stand there silent and hold my pose

Because I are sworn to a profession that I chose

As the flag is folded and given up in the end

I make my last salute and ask the question again

Why did this happen to someone yet not old?

How is my fellow human race oh so cold?

They do not understand the pride that I feel

They do not understand how much I care so real

I have so much to do for what they deserve

My duty is to honor, protect and serve

When you see me at attention know this is how it goes

There I stand silent and hold my pose

Dedicated to those brave officers that protect our cities, and their families
