The case of a Chattanooga man who police said left his girlfriend “half-dead” in a bleach attack has been moved to Aug. 6 before General Sessions Court Judge Lila Statom.
Johnny Dewayne Dortch, 36, has been in custody since May. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder and attempted homicide.
Police said on May 5, Dortch poured boiling bleach on his ex-girlfriend and attacked her neighbor with a hammer.
The ex-girlfriend was left with severe burns, and she was quickly moved to Vanderbilt Hospital's burn unit.
The neighbor sustained a minor burn and a laceration to his head.
Dortch was also charged with especially aggravated burglary. In 2014, Dortch was charged with contempt of court, and in 2009 he was charged with violating the financial responsibility law.
Dortch has an extensive criminal history from the prior decade as well.
