Juanita Mildred Smith, 89, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Born March 13, 1930, she was one of three children of the late Glover and Lillie Holcombe. Juanita was modest and independent, always mindful of others. She lived artfully in the way she chose those who surrounded her and her places of living, dividing her time between the mountains of Chattanooga and the warmer climate of South Florida. We relied on her skill to recognize lost treasures from antiques to home sites, as well as a sounding board for life’s challenges.
She enjoyed attending Brainerd Presbyterian, Little Brown Church and Chapel By The Sea.
Juanita was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Leon F. Smith; son, Mark Harrison Smith; and brother, Charles Holcombe.
She is survived by son, Stephen (Rebekah Walker) Smith, of Nashville; sister, Ollie Alexander, of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Dot Holcombe, of Dayton; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, of Kennesaw and Taylor Smith, of Chicago; as well as many other loving family members.
Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
A private interment will take place at Anderson Cemetery in Ringgold.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
