Delzell, Sarah Hatfield (Ringgold)

Sarah Hatfield Delzell, 95, of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 11, 2019. She was born April 28, 1924. Sarah was married 61 years to her best friend, Gerald Delzell. She was an active member of Lakeview First Baptist Church for over 20 years, where she taught a girls Sunday School class and sang in the choir. When she moved to Florida, she joined Venice First Baptist Church, singing in the choir and serving as a leader in the senior adult ministry. When she returned to the Chattanooga area, she joined Ft. Oglethorpe First Baptist Church, where she was a member for fourteen years.

Sarah retired as a real estate agent in Florida. She was gifted in the arts and enjoyed crafts, needle work, sewing and cake decorating. She loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, as well as 11 countries.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Delzell; brother, James Hatfield; foster brother, Grover Long; and sister, Lucille Price. 

She is survived by three sisters, Polly Crawford, Ann Moley and Barbara Holland; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Jason Thomas officiating.

A private interment will be at Hanna Cemetery in Rising Fawn.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
