Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County: 

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Crews will continue surveying and spotting utilities at various locations throughout the interchange. Shoulders may be closed at these locations between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Additionally, a hauling operation will be taking place requiring a single left or right lane closure on I-75 SB at MM 2 and a single left lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185. There will be an additional single left lane closure on I-24 WB at MM 185 and a possible double lane closure on 24 EB at MM 185. These lane closures will occur the following nights: Thursday between 9 p.m.-6 a.mm and Sunday to Wednesday from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the interstate at these locations. [C.W. US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. The southbound ramp from W. Main St. to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. Detours for closures will be posted. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27)Northbound Exit 1C 4th St Off Ramp: No oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1A-B Martin Luther King Blvd. Off Ramp: No oversized/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound On Ramps from Martin Luther King Blvd.: No oversized/over dimensional loads. TDOT Maintenance on I-24 westbound from MM 181.4 to MM 181.4: Bridge Repair - From Thursday to Friday, I-24 will be reduced to one lane for night time pothole maintenance between the hours of 8 p.m.-4 a.m. at mile marker 181.4. Traffic control will be in place. 

TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (Cummings Highway) in both directions from LM 5.75 to LM 5.75:   Bridge Repair - On Monday, SR-2 will be reduced to one lane for bridge maintenance between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at mile marker 5.75. Traffic control will be in place. 

TDOT Maintenance on SR-2 (Cummings Highway) westbound from LM 7.0 to LM 7.0:   Bridge Repair - On Tuesday, SR-2 will be reduced to one lane for bridge maintenance between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at mile marker 7.0. The west bound lanes of travel will be reduced by one lane. Traffic control will be in place.

TDOT Maintenance on SR-319 (Dupont Parkway) in both directions from LM 2.0 to LM 2.0: Bridge Repair - On Thursday SR-319 will be reduced to one lane for bridge maintenance between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. between mile markers 2.0 and 2.2. The north and south bound lanes of travel will be reduced by one lane. Traffic control will be in place.

Utility Work on SR-320 (E. Brainerd Road) westbound from LM 2.05 to LM 2.05: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along E. Brainerd Road between N. Concord Road and Rowewood Drive. Signage, barrels, and cones will be present during this work. Motorists should use caution. Work will be done from Tuesday through June 27 between 10 p.m.-5 a.m. 

Utility Work on SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) in both directions from LM 3.79 to LM 3.79: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along Ooltewah-Ringgold Road between Bennie Lane and Pine Ridge Road. Signage and flaggers will be used. Motorists should use caution. Work will take place from Tuesday through June 28 between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Utility Work on SR-8 (Taft Highway) in both directions from LM 19.87 to LM 19.88: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along Taft Hwy between Timesville Rd. and Chicory Place. Signage and flaggers will be used. Motorists should use caution. Work will take place from Wednesday through June 28 between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

SR-111 Repair of bridge over SR-29 (US-27): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed in each direction of SR-111 while performing bridge repairs. The contractor will also be closing one lane in each direction on SR-29 as it passes under SR-111. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times.  Estimated project completion date is October. [Mid-State Construction Company, Inc. /Chattanooga 2922/CNT096]

Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8): There will be a tunnel cleaning operation at the McCallie tunnel on Wednesday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. This will be supported by a flagging operation. Additionally, the Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned later that night, supported by a signed detour. Estimated project completion date is June. [Diamond Specialized, Inc./Micka/CNS206] 

SR-148 (Scenic Highway) Slide repair between LM 2.3 (Sanders Road) and LM 2.5 (Linear Lane): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed while they perform stabilization operations to the slide area. One lane of traffic shall remain open at all times. Estimated project completion date is June. [Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc. /Chattanooga 2922/CNT152] 

SR-58 Miscellaneous safety improvements at the intersection of SR-312 (Birchwood Pike) (LM 15.70): The contractor will be completing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR-58 and Birchwood Pike Monday through Saturday between 5 a.m.-6 p.m. No southbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 5-9 a.m. No northbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 3-6 p.m. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.
