Jessy Wilson Brings Soulful Music To Nightfall Friday

  • Monday, June 17, 2019

Nightfall, Chattanooga’s longest-running outdoor summer concert series, will feature Jessy Wilson as its headline performer on Friday, with local opener, FBI Reloaded. The Nightfall Concert Series is held free each Friday for 17 weeks at Miller Plaza and Miller Park.

This Friday night will be First Volunteer Bank night. FVB is one of Nightfall’s sponsors and will be providing activities and games at their booth. Visit the FVB table before 7:45 p.m. to be included in the giveaway of three trips for Ocoee rafting, zip lining and canopy tour as well as Lookouts tickets. There will be more giveaways for a Southern Star gift card, Shufford’s BBQ gift card, and a Lakeshore grille gift card along with FVB logo items.

With the addition of the renovated Miller Park in its footprint, Nightfall now includes activities such as outdoor lawn games, inflatable soccer goals from Chattanooga Football Club, plus art vendors in the new grassy lawn. Artist registration is still available for booth space throughout the season at http://www.nightfallchattanooga.com/nightfall-registration-form.

Review for Jessy Wilson:

Headlining this Friday is Jessy Wilson, a Grammy-nominated songwriter and vocalist.
Wilson, who has toured the world with Alicia Keys, written songs with John legend and kicked off her solo career with her 2019 album Phase, which serves up a mix of soul, hip-hop and roots music. Wilson has toured as an R&B backup singer and has collaborated songwriting with famous artists from Usher and Kanye West to Faith Hill and Macy Gray. Phase portrays its own soulful sound while also telling Wilson’s story that shares all of the rejections and challenges that come with a life dedicated to music and her experience as a modern-day black woman. It reintroduces Jessy Wilson as undiluted, unaccompanied and unleashed, in a way she has never been heard before.

Review for FBI Reloaded:

Opening the show at 7 p.m. is FBI Reloaded. FBI Reloaded creates a soul-infused dance party. This popular local band is led by Freddy McIntosh, a veteran guitarist who has played with musicians such as T-bone Burnett as well as helped create compositions for the movie soundtrack, “Lady Killers.”

Food trucks and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available each week at Nightfall; therefore no outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought in to Nightfall. Known for its family-friendly environment as well as being recognized nationally for the quality of its musical programming, Nightfall is a family-friendly concert series with an average attendance of between 2,500-3,000 each night.

Nightfall is produced by Chattanooga Presents. For more information on this free community concert series, call 265-0771 or visit NightfallChattanooga.com.
