Melvin Lee Sneed, 77, of Dayton, passed away at his home on Monday afternoon, June 17, 2019.
Melvin was born in Dayton on May 17, 1942, the son of the late Arnold and Dixie (Gravett) Sneed.
Melvin was a graduate of Rhea Central High School class of 1960 and was a member of the Old Washington Baptist Church. Melvin was prominent Dayton businessman. When he was a young man he owned and operated a clothing store in downtown Dayton. Employment followed with DuPont in Chattanooga, then an owner of the Downey Auto Parts store and The Movie Station. He also farmed tomatoes and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Pam (Calbaugh) Sneed, his sons, Steve Sneed, Jeremiah and Haley Carney, and his grandsons, Mason Carney and Cameron Sneed all of Dayton.
Funeral services for Melvin will be held Tuesday at noon in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, Rev. Rusty Revis officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
