Jim Price
Jim Price

Jim Price, 75 of Cleveland, Tennessee, went home on June 16, 2019, to be with his Father God on Father’s Day. He passed away peacefully at his home.

He was born in Atlanta, GA on June 14, 1944. A member of Mt. Olive Ministries, he loved God and his church.

Jim graduated from North GA Technical School in 1963 with a degree in Photography and started his career as a professional photographer. His unique style and approach to portraiture gained notoriety amongst his peers in the Professional Photographers of America. He served on the board for the Tennessee chapter for 12 years, earning the rank of Master Craftsman. He conducted many seminars across the southeast with a focus on branding and marketing of programs, including Sweet 16, Junior Miss, portrait and wedding photography. This inspired many up and coming photographers in the business and helped them to launch their own careers. He had a passion for his craft and enjoyed the opportunity to educate people on the art that goes into a portrait.

With a career lasting over 50 years, it is not uncommon for Jim to have photographed 3 generations of family members. From engagements and weddings, maternity and family to the next generation of weddings and family portraits. He had a knack for forming partnerships across the community that networked to support local business, as well as promote many on a national level.
His photography and unmatched vision was his passion. The proudest accomplishment of all his career, was an invite and display of 2 of his portraits that were on loan at Epcot Center. He was a true artist in every sense of the word.

One of the founding members of “The Liar’s Table” Jim could be seen almost every morning at a local restaurant, knowing whose strings to pull for a well instigated laugh.

He was proceeded in death by his father Willard Price, his mother Nelle English Price, his brother Mike Price and his mother in law Anna Dearth.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and soulmate, Melissa J. Price; daughter, Sandy Sheafer; son Clay Price; stepdaughter, Ashley Curtis and husband Jeremy; stepson Barry Semak; sister Jane Henderson; grandchildren Erica Walker, Lucas Sheafer, Maria Sheafer, Alexis Curtis, Grant Curtis; great granddaughter, Ariana Walker; father in law, James S. Dearth; sister in law, Adie Price; brothers in law, James G. Dearth and wife Teresa, Randy Dearth as well as many loved nieces and nephews and family members.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 19, from 5-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Companion Funeral and Cremation Service located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, Tn. 37311.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, at Mt. Olive Ministries at 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311 with Pastor James Sears and Pastor Gary Sears officiating.
