Eric L. Williams, Jr., 24, has been arrested on second-degree murder and other charges related to a drug overdose death that occurred on May 6.

Through investigation it was determined the victim purchased narcotics from Williams on May 6.

An autopsy conducted by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the victim died from overdosing on methamphetamine.

While serving warrants on Williams, Chattanooga Police Department Narcotics officers found Williams to be in possession of other drugs and charged him with possession of heroin for resale, simple possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams has a court appearance scheduled before Criminal Court Judge Don Poole for Friday on the murder charge.
