Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-24 from MM 182 to MM 185 Germantown and Belvoir Roads.: Lane closures eastbound and westbound nightly, June 23-28 for asphalt coring for future project.  [Maintenance/CMGC] 

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Crews will continue surveying and spotting utilities at various locations throughout the interchange. Shoulders may be closed at these locations between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Additionally, a hauling operation will be taking place requiring a single left or right lane closure on I-75 SB at MM 2 and a single left lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185. There will be an additional single left lane closure on I-24 WB at MM 185 and a possible double lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185. These lane closures will occur the following nights: Thursday from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. and Sunday through Wednesday from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the interstate at these locations.  [C.W. US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the area along the access ramps for east and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. The southbound ramp from W. Main St.to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. Detours for closures will be posted. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27)Northbound Exit 1C 4th St Off Ramp: No oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1A-B Martin Luther King Blvd. Off Ramp: No oversized/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound On Ramps from Martin Luther King Blvd.: No oversized/over dimensional loads Estimated project completion date is January 2020. [Dement Construction Company, LLC/Micka/CNP230] 

TDOT Maintenance on SR-29 (US-27) in both directions from LM 12.0 to LM 18.0: Region 2 Bridge Maintenance will be cleaning bridge decks and removing vegetation on SR-29 (US-27) from log mile 12.0-16. The work will begin on Tuesday and continue through Wednesday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Both north bound and south bound lanes will be affected. Traffic control will be in place. 

Utility Work on SR-320 (E. Brainerd Road) westbound from LM 2.05 to LM 2.05: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along E. Brainerd Rd. between N. Concord Rd. and Rowewood Dr. Signage, barrels, and cones will be present during this work. Motorists should use caution. Work will take place through June 27 between 10 p.m.-5 a.m.

Utility Work on SR-321 (Ooltewah-Ringgold Road) in both directions from LM 3.79 to LM 3.79: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along Ooltewah-Ringgold Rd. between Bennie Lane and Pine Ridge Rd. Signage and flaggers will be used. Motorists should use caution. Work will take place through June 28 between 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Utility Work on SR-8 (Taft Highway) in both directions from LM 19.87 to LM 19.88: Intermittent lane closures for utility work along Taft Highway between Timesville Road and Chicory Place. Signage and flaggers will be used. Motorists should use caution. Work will take place through June 28 between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 

SR-111 Repair of bridge over SR-29 (US-27): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed in each direction of SR-111 while performing bridge repairs. The contractor will also be closing one lane in each direction on SR-29 as it passes under SR-111. One lane in each direction shall remain open at all times.  Estimated project completion date is October. [Mid-State Construction Company, Inc. /Chattanooga 2922/CNT096]

Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8): On Thursday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. the Bachman tubes will be cleaned under a signed detour. SR-153 Emergency slope stabilization near LM 7.1: During this report period, the contractor will have the Northbound on-ramp from Access Rd/Lake Resort Dr onto SR-153 at LM 7.1 closed while performing slope stabilization. A detour will be in place directing NB traffic onto N. Access Road and then onto Hixson Pike towards SR-153.  Estimated project completion date is July. SR-58 Miscellaneous safety improvements at the intersection of SR-312 (Birchwood Pike) (LM 15.70): The contractor will be completing various safety improvements at the intersection of SR-58 and Birchwood Pike Monday through Saturday between 5 a.m.-6 p.m. No southbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 5-9 a.m. No northbound traffic restrictions will be allowed between 3-6 p.m. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.
