Elmer Lee Thomas, Sr., 70, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019, at his residence.

He was a 1967 graduate of Howard High School.  He was employed by Shaw Industries.  Elmer was a faithful member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Bus Driver, member of the Male Chorus, Someone To Care Committee, Hospitality Committee, Board of Directors, and President of the Choir. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Francis Strickland; father, Charles Thomas; brothers, Leon Thomas, Sr. and Randall Stamper. 

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Connie R. Thomas; sons, Elmer Thomas, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Johnathan (Marketta) Griffin and Artie (Tanisha) Watson, both of Chattanooga; daughters, Tara (Charles) Sales, Nicole (Rickey) Johnson, both of Chattanooga, Lisa (James) Mack of Sumter, SC, Amber Thomas, Marjorie Watson, Nicole Watson, and Nina Watson, all of Chattanooga; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Funeral service will be on Sunday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Jackson as the eulogist.  Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
