James Leslie “Les” Davenport, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, June 20, 2019, at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 8, 1947 in Baltimore, Md.

He is survived by his companion, Jane Moore Sneed of the residence; godsons, Belton Johnson of Regina, Canada, and Marcus Johnson of Starkville, Ms.; special friends, Wanda Pritchett, David and Karen Jolly, Pat and Silvia McCoy, Bob and Jennell Lemons, Chuck and Debra Harris, Gene and Claudia Miller, and Judy and John Hitchens, all of Dalton, Ga.; caregivers, Haley Silvers and Christina Cansler; and many other friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 23, at 3 p.m. at the Christ Community Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 p.m.
