Nannetta Burns Wells, 81, went home to be with Jesus on June 21, 2019.

She was a resident of Carbondale, IL.  Nannetta was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 12, 1938.  She graduated from Tyner High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, Robert V. “Bobby” Wells that same year.  Nannetta was a stay at home mom while also serving the community as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, PTA officer, as well as a homeroom mother for multiple years.

A member of Oakwood Baptist Church, Nannetta served as a Sunday School and Discipleship teacher of children and youth, a G.A. Leader and Director, WMU Director, Children’s Choir Leader and was first soprano in the adult choir.

When her children went to college, she worked as her husband’s receptionist at Robert V. Wells Ornamental Iron, Co.  After her husband’s death, she went on to graduate from the CNA Program at Chattanooga State and worked various CNA jobs before settling down on in-home care.  Truly a nurse at heart, she even cared for her parents for 10 years in her own home.  Nannetta also worked at the B&W drug store, Macy’s Outlet, Wilkins Research, and Olan Mills, finally retiring from Walmart after seven years of employment.

She enjoyed living for four years with her daughter’s family in Carbondale, IL and also lived in Kingston, TN at Jamestowne Assisted Living for 10 years before moving to The Bridge Nursing Home.  She spent her last two years at Manor Court Nursing Home in Carbondale, IL before Parkinson’s disease took her from her family.
