A man whose wife's body was found off of Old Mineral Springs Road in LaFayette, Ga., last Tuesday turned himself in to a Department of Community Supervision officer on Monday night.

Bob Cole surrendered at a location near Interstate 75 and Georgia Highway 53, Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said.  The surrender was facilitated by a third party.

Cole absconded from Walker County on Sunday afternoon and it is believed that he spent Sunday night camping in Whitfield County or Gordon County.

Cole’s wife, 31-year-old Britany Parker Cole, was found dead about 115 feet off a roadway. It was believed she had been dead 3-5 days.

Ms. Cole was last seen on Thursday night after working a shift at Wanda’s restaurant in Rock Spring.

Bob Cole has not been charged in connection with his wife’s death. Cole just got out of state prison last August after he served 27 years in the 1990 murder and robbery of Benjamin West. Cole was 16 years old at the time.

The Coles had gotten married on June 10.

Cole is housed at the Walker County Detention Center.
