Wednesday, June 26, 2019

A fire heavily damaged a Hixson home early Wednesday afternoon.

At 1:20 p.m., a neighbor called 911 reporting a house fire at 1833 Bay Hill Dr.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting heavy fire on the front door and porch area. Firefighters entered the front and back side of the home to find heavy fire downstairs and heavy smoke upstairs.

Due to the extreme hot temperatures, Dallas Bay VFD requested a mutual aid response the scene for additional manpower. Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the fire scene and Soddy Daisy Fire Department was on stand-by for any additional 911 calls in Dallas Bay’s fire district.

Fire officials reported the fire started downstairs in the home. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Damages are reported at $20,000.

No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene to check firefighters for heat exhaustion. Fire officials reported no one was living at this residence.
