Within the comfy confines of Finley Stadium, Chattanooga Football Club aims to graciously host and defeat Inter Nashville FC in their third game of the season.
Last week, Chattanooga FC suffered their first defeat at the hands of the Georgia Revolution after allowing Jamar Oakley to notch a hat trick against a porous Chattanooga defense. Oakley’s scoring binge nullified what was a sparkling performance by Joao Costa, who was able to put his team on the scoreboard for the second game in a row.
Nashville has had difficulty finding the back of the net in the last few weeks, suffering two straight defeats. They followed a horrific 6-0 rout at the hands of Greenville FC with a slightly more palatable 1-0 loss against Asheville FC. A goal in the 18th minute by Frank Rosenwald was all that Asheville needed to defeat Nashville.
Thaylan Silva leads Nashville in goals with two, both scored in a match against Jamar Oakley and the Georgia Revolution. However, Nashville relies on a more balanced offensive attack, with no less than 6 players having scored a goal for Nashville before their current offensive drought.
Chattanooga looks to shore up their defense against the offensively-challenged Nashville FC, as they have allowed nine goals in their last three matches (granted, one of those matches was an exhibition against Spanish powerhouse Real Betis). Chattanooga also hopes to be more efficient with converting on scoring chances. Botching easy plays in front of the goal with sloppy play have become a theme for Chattanooga’s squad.
The weather may be less than ideal for Saturday's match against Nashville FC, with the forecast calling for at least a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. The match kicks off at 7:30. The game can be viewed on YouTube on Chattanooga Football Club’s official channel.
