The Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Chattanooga State will hold its graduation ceremony Saturday at Memorial Auditorium beginning at 10 a.m.
David Wade, president and CEO of EPB, will present the commencement address following a welcome and remarks by TCAT Executive Vice President Dr. Jim Barrott, Regent Tom Griscom, and Chattanooga State President Dr. Rebecca Ashford.
Mr. Wade is a TCAT Industrial Electricity program graduate who also obtained his associate degree from Chattanooga State before enrolling at UTC to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. He has 30 years experience in the electric industry, ranging from hands-on construction to engineering. As the first in his family to attend college, Mr. Wade was also the honoree at the 2018 Dinner of Firsts event.
In addition to the conferring of diplomas and certificates to 597 TCAT graduates, Nicole Wingo will be recognized as a 2018-2019 SOAR Student Excellence Award winner, and more than 70 graduates will be recognized as members of the National Technical Honor Society.
Chattanooga State TCAT also recently broke its records for the number of SkillsUSA medals awarded at the state and national levels. Students receiving medals have been included in the 2019 Commencement booklet.
