Blend Of Rock And Country At Nightfall Friday

  • Monday, July 8, 2019

Nightfall, Chattanooga’s longest-running outdoor summer concert series, will feature Israel Nash as its headline performer on Friday, with local opener, Sharla June. The Nightfall Concert Series is held free each Friday for 17 weeks at Miller Plaza and Miller Park.

With the addition of the renovated Miller Park in its footprint, Nightfall now includes activities such as outdoor lawn games, inflatable soccer goals from Chattanooga Football Club, plus art vendors in the new grassy lawn. Artist registration is still available for booth space throughout the season at http://www.nightfallchattanooga.com/nightfall-registration-form.

Review for Israel Nash:

Headlining this Friday at 8 p.m. is Texas country, rock ‘n’ roller Israel Nash. This Texas-based singer/songwriter blends elements of rock and country with the undertone of rural folk. Nash was influenced by 60’s and 70’s artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Band, and Crosby Stills & Nash, which are heard in his Americana-inspired voice. With his textural and electric sound, he continues to create songs that incorporate his country life and American roots with rock and psychedelia. He has been successful with his many albums including Barn Doors and Concrete Floors, Rain Plans, Silver Season and the most recent album Lifted.

Review for Sharla June:

Opening the show at 7 p.m. is Sharla June. With her electric mix of old-time country, blues, jazz, pop and old punk rock music, this singer and poet has made a mark for herself in the local Chattanooga area.  June uses her influences from famous artists Bessie Smith and Hank Williams in her songwriting, while also applying her own style. Sharla has played at many music festivals and has a lot of experience in the recording studio. Sharla June, alongside musicians Tom Lifesy and Jade Watts will take the stage this week as Nightfall’s opener.

Food trucks and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available each week at Nightfall; therefore no outside food or beverages are allowed to be brought in to Nightfall. Known for its family-friendly environment as well as being recognized nationally for the quality of its musical programming, Nightfall is a family-friendly concert series with an average attendance of between 2,500-3,000 each night.

Nightfall is produced by Chattanooga Presents. For more information on this free community concert series, call 265-0771 or visit NightfallChattanooga.com.
