CDOT Announces Events And Road Closures For Aug. 15-18

Chattanooga Department of Transportation announces the following events and closures for Aug. 15-18     

Thursday, Aug. 15

UTC Operation Move-In - E 8th Street between Douglas Street and University Street will be closed 6 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 for UTC's annual freshman move-in to nearby dorms. Please use caution as pedestrian traffic will be heavy in the vicinity.   

Friday, Aug. 16

Best of Preps Football Jamboree - Reggie White Boulevard between W 17th Street and W 19th Street will be closed Friday, Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. until Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:30 p.m.  Street parking on Chestnut street will be unavailable during the same time period. 

Nightfall - On Friday, Aug. 16, Cherry Street will be closed at E MLK Boulevard from 3 p.m.-midnight for Nightfall setup. Market Street will be closed from East 8th Street to East 10th Street, and ML King Boulevard will be closed from Broad Street to Georgia Avenue from 5:30 p.m.-midnight for Nightfall. These closures will be in effect each Friday night through Aug. 30.   

Saturday, Aug. 17 

Fall/Back to School Carnival & 20th Anniversary for Little Kings & Queens CDC - 1st Avenue between E 34th Street and E 35th Street will be closed Saturday, Aug.17 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. during the Fall/Back to School Carnival neighborhood block party. 

Wet Hot Moxy Summer - King Street between Market Street and E 11th will be closed to through traffic Saturday, Aug. 17 from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. for a street festival sponsored by Moxy Chattanooga Downtown hotel.

Best of Preps Football Jamboree - Reggie White Boulevard between W 17th Street and W 19th Street will be closed Friday, Aug. 16 at 4 p.m. until Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11:30 p.m.  Street parking on Chestnut Street will be unavailable during the same time period.   

West Village Street Festivals -  Pine Street between W 7th Street (south of the the Republic Parking lot) and W M.L. King Blvd, and W 8th Street between Pine Street and Chestnut Street will be closed from 8 a.m.-midnight each Saturday through Dec. 27.

Silent Party Chattanooga at Cooper's Alley - Cooper's Alley (Passageways 2.0) will be closed for vehicular traffic on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 2 p.m.-midnight for the last silent disco party of the summer series.

Sunday, Aug. 18

Chattanooga Market - Reggie White Boulevard between W 17th Street and W 19th Street will be closed Sunday, Aug. 11 from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. for the Chattanooga Market. This week's featured theme is "Team Spirit Day".

Man, 44, Stabbed To Death On East Main Street

Chattanooga Police said a 44-year-old man died after being stabbed in the 1200 block of East Main Street around midnight Thursday. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a stab wound. Gary Cross, 23, Is 4th Suspect Arrested In Shooting Death Of Tracy Calloway On July 21

On Friday a fourth suspect, Gary Cross, 23, was arrested on outstanding warrants in relation to the July 21, 2019 shooting which occurred in the 4600 block of Trailwood Drive. The victim from that shooting, Tracy Calloway succumbed to injuries sustained from that shooting on July 22.
