Brenda Mae Chafin Boggs, 76,  of Hixson, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019.

Brenda Mae Chafin Boggs, born August 10, 1943 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Ethel Mae Chafin. She grew up in Kermit, West Virginia surrounded by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and many wonderful and loving cousins. Brenda graduated Kermit High School and attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia.

Brenda was a White House telephone operator during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations and often enjoyed sharing her experiences with the local news and with her family and friends.

After moving to Tennessee, Brenda was a beautiful homemaker who enjoyed working in her home and in her yard and took much pride in the appearance of both.

Later Brenda went to work for Commonwealth Insurance and retired from American General where she was a debit agent. She loved seeing her clients who after years she thought of as her family. Brenda kept up with many of them after her health forced her to retire.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Ethel Mae Chafin Shimp of Selma, Indiana.

She is survived by her two daughters, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Denise Boggs Whisnant (Barry), and Michelle Boggs Andrews (Robert Jr.), her three granddaughters, Hunter Whisnant Spencer, Sarah Boggs, Greyson Whisnant, and her grandson, Coston “Tyler” Murdock. Brenda also has two great-grandchildren, Tristan James Spencer and Elliott Mae Whisnant.

Brenda was loved by many but only truly “treasured and understood” by a chosen few. Her daughters would like to Thank those special few who have shown their unconditional love and understanding to our mother throughout the years of trials and tribulations. Marketa Bush, no words will ever be enough to amount to our appreciation or her love she had for you. You have surely become a member of our family. Patricia Hicks, thank you for your hours of unselfish patience and your understanding you have shown all of us over the years and these past few weeks. We love you. Words can’t express how much you are all truly appreciated.

Brenda and daughters ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 10768 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37363 or Avalon Hospice, 7625 Hamilton Park, Suite 19, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.  A very special Thank You to Father Al who went above and beyond to meet our mothers requests in her time of need. We appreciate your kindness. God Bless you.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Mass of Celebration for Brenda’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
