Lawrence Curry, 87, passed away on August 8, 2019, in Chattanooga. 

He was born on March 22, 1932, in Americus, Ga., to the late Mr. Clay and Mrs. Rosie Lee Curry.  He was one of four siblings.  He was preceded in death by Henry, Jesse and Johnnie B.

Lawrence was a member of Orchard Knob Baptist Church.  Lawrence was the first black constable of Chattanooga in the year of 1968 until 1970.  He also served in the United States Army.  Lawrence retired from Mercury Cab Company. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, two nieces, Betty (Jimmie) Wright, Dollie Wilson, one nephew, Melvin Curry, a devoted cousin, Connie Williamson, a host of other relatives and friends.

The body will lie in state beginning at 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the funeral home. 

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
