Two men who ran a Hixson pain clinic have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms in Federal Court.
Anwar Mithavayani of Boca Raton, Fla., got 25 years and Timothy Gower received a 21-year sentence.
They were convicted earlier this year for conspiring to distribute oxycodone and other drugs, and for money laundering.
Agents raided the Tennessee Pain Institute in May 2016.
U.S. Attorney Robert M. Duncan Jr. said, "The defendants’ callous actions undoubtedly contributed to the current opioid crisis.
We remain resolute in our commitment to hold accountable drug traffickers who profit from addiction, including those who illegally deal drugs under the guise of medical care.”
