Nancy Christina “Chris” Slayton
Nancy Christina “Chris” Slayton, 87, died on Wednesday, August 14, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mildred (Banther) Davis; son, Trey Slayton; sister, Frances Ownby; brothers, Alpha, LeBron, Lloyd, and Henry Davis; and grandson, Michael Wall.
She is survived by daughters, Linda Vaughn of Hixson and Cindy Wall of Chattanooga; sister, Roma Jean Yarbrough of Chattanooga; and several nieces and grandchildren.
Chris was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and was a 1948 graduate of Birchwood High School. She graduated from McKenzie Business School. She retired from DuPont after 32 years of service.
At Chris’s request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at Harrison Cemetery where Chris will be laid to rest.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
