Art Wise Distinguished Speakers Presents Barbara Lynes Aug. 22

Dr. Barbara Lynes, NSU Art Museum senior curator and organizer of the Hunter’s current special exhibition, leads a behind-the-scenes talk about the life and work of influential artists William J. Glackens and Pierre-Auguste Renoir during Art Wise Distinguished Speaker session.  It will be held Thursday, Aug. 22, 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hunter Museum.

Dr. Lynes is the Sunny Kaufman senior curator at Fort Lauderdale’s NSU Art Museum, which has the country’s largest collection of paintings and drawings by influential American artist William Glackens.

Dr. Lynes has published more than 25 works and is one of the world’s leading scholars on the life and work of Georgia O’Keefe. She has served as professor and chair of the art history department at Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, and as assistant professor of art history at Dartmouth University and Vanderbilt University.

Admission is $20, members and youth ages 17 and under are free.
