A Chattanooga gang member has been convicted in the carjacking of a veteran and his disabled wife in Knoxville.
Edward Laquan Springs, 23, faces 15-25 years in prison in connection with the incident at a bank ATM on Merchants Drive in October 2016.
Officials said Springs and another youth pointed a gun at the victim and took his truck. His wife's wheelchair ramp was on the truck.
Police found where the carjackers were on Facebook Live driving around in the victim's truck with the handicapped tag visible.
They were singing rap songs and waving around several guns.
The Crips members drove the truck to Chattanooga and then to Nashville, where they carried out another carjacking at a convenience store.
District Attorney Charme Allen said, “This gang crime spree was stopped thanks to the cooperation between law enforcement agencies across the state.”
