Officials at Fort Payne Motor Speedway are readying for next Saturday's start to a month long set of "SpeedWeeks" that will close out the racing season in mid-September for the 3/8's mile dirt oval.
Local racer Sam Seawright and Georgian Casey Turman picked up Crate Late Model (and Super Late Model) wins respectfully, this past Saturday, heading into next weekends United Championship Racing Alliance's - UCRA annual "Fall Finale" for the 604/Crate heavyweights.
Sam's big brother J.T. will also be ready for competition, vying for the over $10,000 in prize monies next Saturday night, that is boasting over $30,000 paying out for the Final Four weeks.
Defending UCRA champion Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland has become more of a regular at FPMS, rather than following the grind of another national championship, and has garnered multiple Crate wins this season, becoming a fast favorite of fans at the North Eastern Alabama track.
Also, local Duck Springs racer Lucas Burns has returned to Fort Payne's SLM division of which will see week #2 (Aug. 31) an annual Labor Day Extravaganza event paying $4,000 to-WIN.
The third week of four Speedweeks hosts the annual Championship Finals for all classes as a season closer Demolition Derby with a few local classes wrap up 2019 on Sept. 14.
Beginning Saturday, select UCRA racers will be signing autographs on the UCRA Kids Posters and Kids Cards between 6-7 p.m. Drivers such as The Seawright Bros, "Hot Rod Carroll, leading Rookie of the Year Seth Wimpey and Kasey Hall will be meeting and greeting fans in the grandstands area.
