Roy Earl Keith
A couple has entered plea in Criminal Court in a case in which their child was found to be badly malnourished and with rotten teeth after being taken to the hospital on June 6, 2016.
Roy Earl Keith, 53, and Savannah Louise Keef, 33, appeared before Judge Barry Steelman.
They had been charged with aggravated child neglect and were facing 15-25 years in prison.
The couple was allowed to plead guilty to lesser charges and received suspended five-year terms.
Keith entered a no contest plea to attempted child endangerment. Ms. Keef pleaded guilty to attempted child neglect.
Prosecutor Andrew Coyle said the child was able to gain weight after getting medical treatment.
He said, after a hearing in Juvenile Court, the child has been returned to the couple. He said they have undergone parenting classes.
Ms. Keef was arrested again in February on charges of DUI second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. Those charges were recently dismissed.
