Marion DeEtte Nations Smith, 91, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2019 at Quinton Memorial with her cherished friend and caregiver, Sue Griffin, by her side.

She was the daughter of the late John and Tommie Nations and was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Benjamin Harrison Smith, Jr.

DeEtte worked for J.W. Bray Co. for many years. Later in life she found great joy as a greeter at Wal-Mart. She loved to cook and dearly loved her family, having a special place in her heart for children.

She is survived by her siblings, Geri Lewallen, Shirley Payne, Nora (Jim) Kastran, Bryant L. “Pete” Nations and Alan (Elaine) Nations. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of DeEtte will be held at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the chapel of Love Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband in West Hill Cemetery.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, North Georgia Regional Office, 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, GA 30721.
