Police Investigate "Inappropriate" Text Messages From Ooltewah High Teacher To Student; Teacher Resigns After Police Called In

A student at Ooltewah High School on Tuesday morning reported receiving inappropriate text messages from a teacher, school officials said. 

 

School administration immediately contacted law enforcement.  The Chattanooga Police Department responded and is in charge of the investigation.

 

The teacher resigned employment with Hamilton County Schools on Tuesday afternoon.  In keeping with the policies of the Hamilton County Board of Education, administrators have also reported the incident to the Department of Children’s Services and the Tennessee State Board of Education. 

 

Officials said, "Hamilton County Schools holds the safety and well-being of its students as its top priority.  Hamilton County Schools will not tolerate conduct that adversely affects our ability to provide a safe and secure learning environment for students."
