Vacant House On S. Kelley Street Suffers Fire Damage

A vacant house on S. Kelley Street suffered fire damage on Tuesday night.

At 10:10 p.m., firefighters from E5, L5,S1 E4, L1, S13, Q1, Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 responded to a reported structure fire at 408 S Kelley. The first arriving units reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the residential structure.

Capt John Ives of E5 did a quick search of the inside of the structure and found that there was no one inside. Fire crews conducted an offensive fire attack and were able to have  the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

There was fire still in the attic space that took firefighters some time to gain access to due to the construction of the rear of the residential structure.

Neighbors reported that there was no one living in the house.

The fire is under investigation.
