A man who said he had his yellow Hamilton County school bus stolen on May 20 said the man who took it drove around town all day, racking up over 50 miles.

Johnny Lee White, 38, was finally spotted driving the bus on Highway 153. He was stopped and taken into custody at the Shallowford Road exit.

General Sessions Court Judge Alex McVeagh on Thursday bound a charge of theft over $10,000 to the Grand Jury against him.

The owner said it was taken from his 15-acre property on Garfield Road, which is near Hunter Road.

He said when he got it back there was $802 in damage to a mirror.

The owner said he had filled up the vehicle prior to it being stolen and he had to fill it again when it was returned.

White remains free on the same bond.
