Though it's not her district, City Councilwoman Demetrus Coonrod agreed that the roads in the Drake Forest subdivision need fixing.
She did so after residents said the roads in the subdivision off Shallowford Road have not gotten attention in 40 years. Pictures were passed out to council members.
Ms. Coonrod, after examining the photos, said, "We should be sued right now over the condition of these roads."
City Transportation Director Blythe Bailey promised to visit the subdivision himself. Ms. Coonrod said, "I've had enough of 'we're going to look at it.' These roads need to be fixed now."
One resident said she has already had to have her car re-aligned twice this year.
She said the city had sent a letter saying that roads that get attention have to meet a certain metrics.
Councilman Darrin Ledford said city officials need to ask for the amount of money needed to really upgrade city streets. He said, "We've asked for dollars. Put it in your budget. Let's get this done."
