PEARL, MS - The Chattanooga Lookouts rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning against the Mississippi Brave to break a 1-1 tie and take a 2-0 series advantage on Friday night at Trustmark Park, 4-1.
The Lookouts jumped out to a quick 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning. The first three batters reached safely, and Michael O'Neill scored on a double play.
The M-Braves broke up Chattanooga starter Packy Naughton's perfect game bid in the fifth inning on Connor Lien one-out double. The Braves loaded the bases, but could not get on the scoreboard.
Mississippi'a Ray-Patrick Didder led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a single against Naughton and swiped stole second base to get in scoring position. Riley Unroe's RBI hit brought home Didder and tied the game at 1-1.
Naughton left the game in the eighth and would have a sparkling no decision effort.
Lookouts bats went silent until the ninth, then belting two hits and a Braves error enabled Chattanooga to take a 4-1 lead. Gavin LaValley and Tyler Stephenson knocked in three runs.
Corey Thompson would finish the game for the win and go 2-1 on the season.
