A Chattanooga man has been charged with carjacking after police said he tried to run over the victim with his own car.

According to police reports, William Roy Reynolds, 38, got a ride from Jackie Langley from Red Bank to an abandoned residence on Riverside Avenue. Once they got to the unpopulated space, Reynolds began beating Langley with what could be the blunt side of a hunting knife.

After moving Langley out of his own truck, Reynolds threatened to kill the victim if he tried to call the police. Langley retorted by saying he would notify the police anyway, and began to run way. Reynolds tried to run Mr. Langley over, but failed to do so.

A few passers-by saw a bleeding man running from Reynolds and called the police. When police arrived, the victim identified Reynolds from a recent mugshot as the man who stole his car and attacked him. After speaking with Reynold’s mother, police found the stolen vehicle at a Circle K in Rossville.

Police looked at video surveillance from the gas station and saw Reynolds exit the vehicle at a pump, and leave the scene.

Reynolds was later located at the Walker County Jail.
