Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Outdoor Chattanooga will conduct two free programs on Friday, Aug. 23. At 8:30 am, the first program is a two-hour guided and equipped historical kayak tour around Maclellan Island. Then, at 11 a.m., a ranger will lead a 90-minute walking tour across Walnut Street Bridge. Both programs begin at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. in Chattanooga.
"The kayak tour is made possible through the generosity of the National Park Partners," officials said. "The walking tour does not require reservations, but the following reservation and paddler requirements must be met prior to participating in the kayak tour."

Paddler requirements:
participants must be 14 years of age or older;
participants must know how to swim; and
participants must be under the 275 lb. weight limit required to use the kayaks.
Outdoor Chattanooga and the National Park Service reserve the right to cancel a trip at any time at their discretion, due to weather or water conditions. Participants will be notified as soon as possible if there is a cancellation. The rain date for this event is Friday, Aug. 30, at 8:30 a.m.
"If you must cancel your reservation for any reason, please try to do so with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice," officials said. Call between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday to cancel a reservation.
