More than 1,400 racers took to the enhanced adult course and newly added youth course at the annual Scenic City Mud Run at Greenway Farm in Hixson on Saturday. Not only was a youth course added, but Scenic City Multisport partnered with OCRAddix, an obstacle course racing team to bring a new level of difficulty to this year's event.
“This year’s event produced a record number of participants and spectators who enjoyed a full day of muddy fun, said race director Jule Wolff. “We are thrilled to have had so many adults and adaptive athletes prove time and time again that overcoming obstacles is possible when you have the right atmosphere and people on your side. OCRaddix will be back for the 2020 event with even more obstacles and mud for participants to enjoy. We thank the community for coming out and showing their support.”
This year’s race supported Lionhearts Fitness and OCR youth nonprofit program, serving the fitness needs of children of all fitness levels, financial status, capacities and abilities with no one left out. The Lionheart team had its own heat, and their mission was visible to anyone watching as they all assisted each other over and under obstacles along the way- remaining together and crossing the finish line as a group.
"Our mission is to empower our youth to face fears and conquer obstacles, knowing their worth, building self-worth as well as becoming stronger physically,” said Michele Littlejohn-Luccketta, founder of Lionheart Fitness.
